Mosaic
Church of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, Ravenna

In this scene the Resurrected Christ meets two disciples on the road to Emmaus, the city pictured in the background. As in all the panels in the cycle, Christ is bearded and wears a purple toga. The episode is narrated in Luke 24:13-35.

This is one of the 13 mosaics of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ along the upper band of the right wall of the nave.
